Driver Arrested for DUI After Crash

Posted:
GIRDLETREE, Md.– Maryland State Police say a man was arrested for DUI early Sunday morning after he crashed his car into a utility pole in Worcester County.

Troopers said Michael Anthony Cieslak, 27, of Washington, D.C., was driving a 2006 Mercedes car on Snow Hill Road near Girdletree when he lost control of the vehicle and brought down a utility pole on the side of the road. The pole did not obstruct traffic at the time of the crash, according to Sgt. Anthony Romano of the Maryland State Police.

Emergency medical technicians treated Cieslak for minor injuries, police said.

Police said Cieslak was administered sobriety tests at the scene of the crash and blew a .17 blood alcohol content.

Police charged Cieslak with traffic-related offenses and driving under the influence and took him to the police barrack in Berlin where he was released without bond, according to Romano.
