18 Delaware Students Bring Home Top Awards from Conference

ORLANDO, Fla. – Eighteen students brought home Top 10 Awards from the HOSA Future Health Professionals 37th Annual National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. last week, according to officials.

Over 50 students from Indian River School District, New Castle County Vo-Tech School District, Polytech School District and Sussex Technical School District participated in multiple categories, such as health professions and teamwork, in this year’s conference, says Alison May, of the Delaware Department of Education.

These 18 students were among the 7,000 participates in the conference, according to officials.

Of the 18 Top 10 students, four of them medaled in their events. The award winners are gold medalists Hiten Patel and Mary Besong, silver medalist Thomas Pinto and bronze medalist Abigail Adams, officials say.

In addition to these awards, Bansri Patel of Sussex Technical High School received a National Technical Honor Society scholarship at the beginning of the conference, according to officials.
