REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- As the Fourth of July approaches, so does a flood watch for Delaware's beaches. Outdoor plans on the holiday might have to be canceled. But for some businesses, that only helps them.

Tesia Kempski is visiting from Pennsylvania, and although she is hoping for fireworks, she said she is prepared for indoor activities.

"I guess we'll watch a movie or go to a restaurant," she said. "Something indoors."

And indeed restaurants along the coast that are open all day will see customers flocking to stay dry.

Another businesses that will benefit from a washout? Movie theaters, the perfect rainy day activity. Kelly Price works at the Movies at Midway in Rehoboth Beach and said although she technically wants a sunny July 4, she actually is hoping for rain because the theater will make much more money. We make a lot of money when it rains, whenever it rains in the summer they're all here, cause were the hub of Rehoboth, that's the only movie theater between here and Salisbury," she explained. "It's ridiculous, we get lines out the door, there's people all over the place."

Another popular indoor option is shopping, like at the Tanger Outlets. The shops have awnings to keep people dry. According to general manager Amy Norgate, the outlets are expecting large crowds and lots of business.

"Well people love to shop when it's stormy or overcast so I certainly think people will take advantage of the shopping in town and downtown Rehoboth and at the outlets," she said. "We definitely like rainy weather; rainy days definitely help shopping."

During a national holiday, especially one that is on a three-day weekend, local beach businesses tend to get an economic boost no matter what, but indoor activities expect to be raking in more money if the rains do come.
