Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Collision in Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist that happened early Sunday morning.

Police say it happened around 1:40 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Coastal Highway and Old Landing Road. Police say Craig M. Shine, 26 of Nottingham, PA, was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck southbound on Coastal Highway. When Shine stopped for a red light in the right lane at the intersection with Old Landing Road, police say a 2004 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle operated by Kenneth E. Hunt II, 24 of Dover, approached the pickup truck at a high rate of speed. Police say Hunt was traveling southbound in the right lane of Coastal Highway. Police say as the traffic signal changed to green, the Dodge began to proceed south and for unknown reasons, police say Hunt failed to see the truck, causing the motorcycle to strike the rear of the truck.
Police say Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene, and Shine, as well as two adult male passengers, were uninjured in the collision. Police say Hunt was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and Shine and his passengers were wearing their seat belts.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. Coastal Highway southbound at Old Landing Road was closed for about three hours Sunday morning as the crash was investigated and cleared.
