Posted: Updated:

DELMAR, Md.- Authorities say one person has died and another faces DUI charges in connection with a two-vehicle crash that happened late Sunday night in Delmar.

Delmar police said a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Richard Nguyen, of Delmar, Md., collided with another vehicle on U.S. Route 13 at Foskey Lane at 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Police said the driver of the other vehicle, Thomas Mitchell, of Federalsburg, was driving south on Route 13. According to investigators, Nguyen was on Foskey Lane and crossing westbound, and did not see Mitchell and hit the side of his vehicle. Mitchell was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to Sgt. Michael Bond of the Delmar Police Department.

Bond said Nguyen blew a .17 BAC and was charged with DUI and other charges related to the fatal crash.

Roads were closed for hours to clear the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
