BALTIMORE, Md. – The Maryland Department of the Environment announced Tuesday that it has started enforcing violation charges after several infractions in previous months.

These charges come from harmful environmental activities of state businesses, the department said.

In previous months, there have been 23 lead infractions, three mining infractions, three oil control infractions, three air pollution infractions and three water pollution infractions, among many more violations, authorities said.

Officials said that of these infractions, one company, Pohanka of Salisbury, Inc., originates from the Eastern Shore.
