According to the article in The Guardian, dated 18 June 2014: Peter O'Neill sacks top PNG policeman and shuts down corruption watchdog, Peter ONeill, the prime minister of the Papua New Guinea has fired the deputy police commissioner in charge of the corruption watchdog, which was allegedly found to provide evidence of fraud that is worth millions of dollars and arrest him. After ONeill allegedly transferred $31 million of public funds to a law firm, named Paul Paraka lawyers, a warrant was issued by the police for his arrest. The prime minister denied all the accusations, and has subsequently terminated the corruption watchdog Task Force Sweep, in order to stifle further investigation into his financial affairs. Sam Koim, in charge of the task force, said that ONeill made the gravest mistake, by terminating the organization. Also, the prime minister fired the police chief of operations, deputy commissioner Simon Kauba, who took on a huge role in the case, and accused him of working against the government. However, the new police commissioner Geoffrey Vaki was arrested and questioned by the members of the fraud squad.
