Brief Police Chase Ends with Suspect's Car Overturned

Posted:

BERLIN, Md. - A driver led police on a brief chase, after an officer tried to pull him over for speeding.

It started at 2:45 p.m. when an officer tried to pull over Tyrell Oliver, 43, of Berlin, on US 50 at Hall Rd. Maryland State Police said Oliver was going 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Police said as the officer tried to pull Oliver over he sped up and turned onto Route 610. According to police, he crossed the center line several times trying to evade police.

As Oliver approached US 113, police said he hit the brakes to avoid hitting cars in front of him. As result, his car fishtailed and hit a roadside pole. The car then overturned several times, ejecting Oliver from the car.

Oliver was conscious and taken to PRMC.

Police said drugs were found at the scene. Police continue to investigate the incident.
