LEWES, Del.- The Delaware Shore Summer League Field Hockey season wrapped up Monday night with the Seahawks winning the senior division championship and the elementary division all-star game. The Scorpions, elementary division champions, were given a gold medal presentation before the all-star game.
The Seahawks (4-2-2) prevailed against the top seeded Warriors (6-1-1) in a 3-1 final. Fantastic goalkeeping by Tina Gooding for the Warriors and Elana Montejo for the Seahawks made for a low scoring game. Lexi Gooch was able to find the net and give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead at the 11:38 mark in the first half. Lisa Williams then put one in to make it 2-0 at 20:00 in the second half. Brittanie Booker scored at 17:56 to bring the Warriors within one point, but Lindsay Williams put the game away for good with her goal at 10:00, sealing the 3-1 victory for the Seahawks.
The elementary division all-star game was another defensive battle. Although the action went end-line to end line, neither team was able to penetrate the goal cage thanks to the goaltending of Julie Heffernan, Elie Cerchio, and Bella Myers.
