SALISBURY, Md.– The Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday announced their June Organizational Award winners, resulting in a pair of Shorebirds being honored. Catcher Chance Sisco was named Player of the Month, while reliever Jon Keller was chosen for Pitcher of the Month.
Sisco has been on a tear offensively, making huge strides since the beginning of the season. In the month of June, Sisco batted .404 with 19 RBIs in 24 games. The Orioles’ second round pick from the 2013 draft, Sisco roped eight doubles and one home run in the month, while recording a .476 on-base percentage and .528 slugging percentage, combining for an OPS over 1.000. Sisco currently leads the South Atlantic League with a .353 batting average on the season.
Keller has been stellar out of the Shorebirds’ bullpen. In six June appearances, Keller went 1-0 with one save and a 1.13 ERA, along with striking out 15 batters compared to three walks over 16 innings of work. In June, opponents batted just .213 of the right-handed reliever. The Orioles selected Keller in the 22nd round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of the University of Tampa.
Sisco and Keller join Hunter Harvey as current Shorebirds who have been honored this year by the Orioles’ organization. Harvey, the Orioles’ 1st round pick from 2013, was earlier named Pitcher of the Month for May.
The Shorebirds continue their seven-game road trip in Greensboro with a three-game series starting on Tuesday evening. Delmarva will return home for a four-game series against the first- place Hagerstown Suns, starting on Friday, July 18.
