GEORGETOWN, Del.– Georgetown police on Monday arrested a suspect Monday accused of stealing checks and allegedly forging the victim’s name.

Gary Palverento, 37, of Georgetown, is charged with theft and identity theft.

The victim, 53, called police Sunday to report the suspect who stole his checks, according to police.

Police say an investigation of the theft found that Palverento wrote and signed two of the victim’s checks to his name and cashed them at M & T Bank in Millsboro.

Palverento is being held in the Sussex Correctional Institution on $6,000 bond.
