Shorebirds Drop Second Straight, 5-1

GREENSBORO, N.C.- Quiet bats doomed Delmarva again Wednesday night, as the Shorebirds only produced a single run in a loss to the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Greensboro established a 5-0 lead early on thanks in part to two runs that came across on a Jared Breen error at shortstop in the second, and a two-run shot from first-baseman Felix Munoz an inning later. Delmarva starter Nick Cunningham would exit following the fifth, eventually taking the loss.

The Shorebirds lone run came on a solo home run to left from designated hitter Conor Bierfeldt, his tenth long-ball of the year. Bierfeldt in now tied for the team lead in homers (10) with former Shorebird Mike Yastrzemski, who was recently promoted again, to Double-A-Bowie.

Delmarva will look to avoid a three-game sweep Thursday night, as left-hander Luis Gonzalez takes the mound for a 7 p.m. first pitch in Greensboro.
