Two People Arrested After Vehicle Almost Hits Police Car

HARRINGTON, Del.- Harrington Police arrest two people after their vehicle almost hit a Harrington officer's car.

Police said the incident happened at 12:51 a.m.on Friday. They said the officer was traveling on South DuPont Hwy near Fairgrounds Road. Authorities said Stanley Mumford, 29, of Millsboro was trying to pull out in front of the officer when the incident happened.

The officer pursued Mumford. When the officer caught up with him, Mumford refused to identify himself and gave the officer a false name. The officer ran a computer search and later discovered his identity. Mumford was taken into custody along with his passenger, Katie Hynson, 28, of Georgetown, who refused to give up Mumford's identity.

After further computer checks, officers determined that Mumford was wanted by Sussex County Family Court and Sussex County Court of Common Pleas. Mumford also had an active warrant out of the Delaware State Police Troop 4 for charges resulting in a vehicle pursuit with Troopers that occurred back in February of 2014.

Hynson was issued a criminal summons for Hindering Prosecution and released. Mumford was issued criminal summons for Criminal Impersonation, Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License, Inattentive Driving and Failure to Answer Summons.  Mumford was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 for the capias and Delaware State Police warrant.

Mr. Mumford was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $42,353 cash bond. Prior to being committed to jail, Mumford was turned over to the Delaware State Police.

Phillips Packing House Named One of Six in Maryland to "Fix"

Conservationists call it a "threatened historic place." The Phillips Packing House in Cambridge was built in the 1920s. At its peak, nearly 10,000 employees packed vegetables and shucked oysters inside its factory. But after closing in the 60's, the building and its two, towering smokestacks have sat untouched. But now, a new initiative aims to restore the Phillips Packing House as soon as this year.
