Dover Traffic Stop Leads to Two Arrests

DOVER, Del.- Dover police say a weekend traffic stop resulted in the the arrests of two people on firearm and related charges.

Police said that at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Shaquille Thomas, 22, and Laura Troise, both of Dover, were stopped for speeding in the area of North DuPont Highway and Leipsic Road. According to police, while officer was talking to the driver, he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. 

Police said that during a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered 1.6 grams of marijuana and a .45 caliber Glock handgun.  The handgun was reported stolen from Delaware State Police Troop 9, according to investigators.

Thomas and Troise were both taken into custody without incident. Thomas was charged with carry concealed deadly weapon (firearm), receiving a stolen firearm, second-degree conspiracy, possession of weapon by person prohibited and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana with aggravating factor. He was released on $13,000 unsecured bond.

Troise was charged with carry concealed deadly weapon (firearm), receiving a stolen firearm, and second-degree conspiracy. She was released on $4,000 unsecured bond.
