DOVER, Del. - Dover police say they arrested a man attempting to sell items he had just stolen from a home early Monday morning.

Police say on July 21, Deon L. Brown, 47, of Dover, allegedly broke in through the rear window of a home on the 400 block of Governors Avenue, and took items, including a laptop computer, a safe with cash in it, and jewelry.

Shortly after the burglary, officers say they received a call from a person who observed Brown in the parking lot of Courtney Square Shopping Center on South New Street, attempting to sell the recently stolen items.

Police say they responded immediately, and Brown threw the items into a dumpster in an attempt to avoid getting arrested. He was taken into custody without incident, and the majority of the items were recovered and returned to the original owner.

Brown was charged with second degree burglary, theft over $1,500, and criminal mischief,  then committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $3,600 secured bond.
