Laurel Man Arrested for Multiple Bank Robberies

VIENNA, Md.- A Laurel, Delaware man has been arrested following an investigation into multiple armed bank robberies on the Eastern Shore.

Maryland State Police, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Salisbury City Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were all involved in the investigation.

Miles C. Charles, 43, of Shiloh Church Road in Laurel, Delaware is charged with armed robbery, robbery, first and second degree assault, theft between $10,000 and $100,000, use of a firearm in a violent felony, and illegal possession of a firearm. He is being held in the Harford County Detention Center without bond. Other charges are pending.

Charles is charged with a March 28 robbery at the Bank of Delmarva in Salisbury. He is also charged with two at the Hebron Savings Bank in Vienna on April 16 and June 26. Police say in all three robberies, Charles entered the banks with a handgun and reportedly pointed it at employees while demanding money.

The joint investigation into the robberies resulted in multiple warrants for Charles’ arrest. The Maryland State Apprehension Team located and arrested Charles near the 1300 block of Harford Square Drive in Edgewood, Maryland.
