LAUREL, Del.- Delaware State Police have issued a Gold Alert for a Laurel man reported as missing.

Troopers are looking for 28-year-old Michael D. Vanderhoeven, who they say has not been heard from or seen since approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said there is a concern for Vanderhoeven's safety and welfare as troopers have been unable to make contact with him to check on his welfare and attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.

Troopers said Vanderhoeven was last seen leaving his home on the 34000 block of Branch School Road in Laurel. He is described as white, 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He may be in the Delmar or Salisbury, Md. areas, according to investigators.

Anyone with information on Vanderhoeven's whereabouts is asked to call Troop 5 at (302) 337-1090 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
