3 Arrested on Drug Charges After Harrington Traffic Stop

Posted:

HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington police say three people were arrested on drug charges Saturday night after a routine traffic stop.

Police arrested driver Chelsey A. Williams, 23, of Smyrna, Del., and passengers Branden R. Douglas, 28, of Clayton, Del., and Christopher A. Hoffman, 26, of Smyrna, Del.

Officers pulled Williams over on Porter Street for not wearing a seat belt, according to police. When officers approached the car and spoke with the driver, they said they smelled marijuana.

After searching the car, officers found 0.2 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia, according to police.

Police said they searched Hoffman and Douglas and found 1 gram and 5 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia respectively. Authorities then took Williams to Milford Memorial Hospital for a warranted blood draw.

After doctors released her from the hospital, Williams returned to the Harrington Police Department with Douglas and Hoffman, where officers charged and released them pending a court appearance.

Douglas and Hoffman were charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and Williams with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, driving with a suspended or revoked license and failing to wear a seat belt.
