Motorcyclist Identified in Fatal Denton Crash

DENTON, Md. – Denton police on Tuesday released the name of the motorcyclist killed in last week's collision with a tractor-trailer.

According to police, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim as 19-year-old Gregory Lankford, of Federalsburg, Md.

Police said that shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, Lankford was making a U-turn from westbound Shore Highway to the eastbound lane at the Deep Shore Road intersection when the motorcycle was struck by a tractor-trailer.

Lankford and the motorcycle were stuck under the tractor-trailer as it caught fire, investigators said. Denton Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Lankford was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer, 65-year-old Terry Linthicum, of Church Creek, Md., was taken to Easton Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released.

The tractor-trailer involved in the crash is owned by Koski Trucking, based out of Hurlock, Md., according to police.

Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to call the Denton Police Department at (410) 479-1414.
