Assault Victim Found on Coastal Highway Median, Suspect Arrested

OCEAN CITY, Md.– Police say they arrested a Laurel, Del. man for assault after a woman was found lying on the median of Coastal Highway in Ocean City.

Ocean City police said a public safety aide saw a woman on the median at 48th Street at 12:35 a.m. Monday.

Police said the aide learned the victim suffered injuries from an assault. The aide and two of the victim’s friends moved her from the median to a safe place.

Investigators said they discovered Dwayne A. Daniels, 38, hit the victim with a glass bottle. Police said Daniels and the victim were in a car with friends when they started to argue. According to police, Daniels became aggressive, hit the victim with a bottle and choked her. The victim escaped from the car while it was stopped.

Police released a description of Daniels and shortly after a security guard found him and police arrested him.

Daniels is charged with first- and second-degree assault, as well as reckless endangerment. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
