Del. State Fair Attendance up by about 25 Percent

Posted: Updated:
HARRINGTON, Del. (WBOC) - Attendance at the 2014 Delaware State Fair was up about 25 percent from its 2013 total. State fair officials announced Wednesday that nearly 282,000 people came out to the 10-day event. The 2013 total was 228,000.

In a news release, the fair cited good weather, new entertainment options, a good lineup of concerts and new multi-day discount tickets as the reason for the jump.

"We had a fantastic fair this year by all measurements," Bill DiMondi, general manager of the fair, said in the release. "Staff was busy putting the finishing touches on a brand new plaza and poultry barn just days before our opening on Thursday, July 17."

This year's state fair included performances from Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and Train.

The 2015 fair runs from July 23 to Aug. 1 in Harrington.
