Submarine Squadron 6 to get New Commander


NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Norfolk-based submarine squadron is getting a new commanding officer.

Capt. Blake Converse will become the commander of Submarine Squadron Six on Friday. He'll take over for Capt. Paul Snodgrass, who will become the chief of staff for Submarine Force Atlantic.

The change of command ceremony will occur onboard the Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Montpelier at Naval Station Norfolk.

Converse will be in charge of seven submarines that are home ported in Norfolk. His staff is responsible for training the submarines' crews for a variety of operations.
