Sussex County Tax Season Begins

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Sussex County has begun issuing tax bills for the 2015 fiscal year.

The bills will total an estimated $117 million tax revenue for the county.

“The county has worked diligently over the past several years to put on its website as much information as possible, and in a format that is easy for the public to understand and use,” County Finance Director Gina A. Jennings said in a statement. “We believe that, along with an improvement payment process, makes for a better customer service experience all the way around.”

Taxpayers can review their bills online through the county's website, as well as through paper copies.

Due to a Delaware law, Sussex County is required to bill property owners for school taxes on behalf of eight public school districts. According to officials, 10 to 14 percent of the average tax bill is for property taxes.
