Del Tech Announces New President

GEORGETOWN -     Delaware Technical and Community college announced it's new President on Monday. Dr. Mark Brainard has been named the school's fifth president. Brainard, who is a Del- Tech alum, succeeds Dr. Orlando George, Jr. who retired on June 30 after serving as president of the school for 19 years.

Brainard's appointment comes several weeks after Wor Wic Community Dr. Murray Hoy declined the position. Hoy said that he and Del Tech could not come to terms, so he stayed as president of Wor Wic. On Monday, the Del Tech Board of Trustees held a special meeting, and named Brainard to the post effective immediately.

Dr. Brainard has over 25 years of experience in business and higher education in Delaware. He earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Delaware Tech in 1981. From there he went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Wilmington University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Widener University.
