Queen Anne's County House Fire Ruled Accidental

BARCLAY, Md.- Authorities have ruled as accidental a fire that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to a Queen Anne's County home.

It happened just before 1 p.m. Tuesday at a one-and-a-half-story family dwelling at 1515 Merrick Corner Road, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

It took 20 firefighters from the Sudlersville, Church Hill, Goldsboro, Marydel and Crumpton fire companies approximately 10 minutes to control the blaze.

There were no reported injuries.

The fire caused a reported $25,000 in damage to the structure and another $25,000 worth of damage to its contents.

A preliminary investigation determined it was an electrical fire that started in the kitchen, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.
