DOVER, Del. – Former Wolverines standout Larry Beavers concluded his first season with the New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League and proved to be one of the league's best at wide receiver and on special teams.
A native of Annapolis, Md., Beavers led the VooDoo with 80 receptions and 1,020 yards while also grabbing 16 touchdowns. The NCAA record holder for kick return touchdowns, Beavers returned a league-high four for touchdowns in 2014 and also averaged 19.7 yards per return to rank among the AFL leaders.
Beavers also finished the season ranked third among all AFL players with 146.5 all-purpose yards per game.
In his four seasons at Wesley (2005-08), Beavers used his elite speed to become one of the Wolverines all-time greatest receivers. Ending his career ranked second with 2,366 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns while his 123 receptions were fourth all time.
An AP Little and AFCA All-American in 2008, Beavers twice received D3football.com All-America honors as a return specialist returning nine kicks for touchdowns and averaging 21.0 yards per punt return in his career. His 2,070 kick return yards are also a Wesley record.
