Executive Director Named to Va. Ethics Council

RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- A state election official has been named executive director of Virginia Conflict of Interest and Ethics Advisory Council.

The Free Lane-Star reports (http://bit.ly/1owg6Kk ) Chris Piper has been chosen for the job.

The 15-person council has yet to be fully formed. It was created during the General Assembly's session earlier this year and was designed to collect and review financial filings and disclosures. Only six people have been named to the council so far.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe vetoed seed money for the council in June and has said he will seek tougher ethics reform during next year's session.
