MILFORD, Del. - A Delaware girl takes home a national title in the USA National Miss scholarship organization.

Abigail Aleman, of Milford, Delaware, recently won the national title of USA National Talented Miss Jr. Princess 2014. The competition, which took place in Daytona Beach, Florida and included young women from across the country, was held during the USA National Miss national pageant.

As a national title holder, Abigail will represent the USA National Miss national scholarship pageant organization throughout the year and will have opportunities to perform and showcase her talents.

USA National Miss has been featured on national television and national magazines. Pageant leader say the organization also provides scholarship opportunities for young women while providing a platform to achieve their goals and give back to the community.

According to the USA National Miss website, the organization recognizes "the personal achievement, community involvement and academic excellence of young women all across the United States at the state and national level."

Pageant leaders say, as a charity-driven organization, USA National Miss will enable Abigail to work with some of the organization's official charities throughout the year.

"We are excited to have such a talented young lady represent our organization," said Jackie Watson, National Executive Director of USA National Miss. "The USA National Miss Scholarship Organization is honored to have Abigail as one of our national title holders, and we know that she will inspire other girls to achieve their goals and dreams."

Empty Crab Houses Look to Fall Season, Still With No Crab Pickers

It's slim pickings for at least three of Dorchester County's crab houses. Since the start of crab season in April, the crab houses have sat empty without their Mexican crab pickers. It started when the U.S. Department of Homeland Security released H2-B worker visas through a lottery system, leaving out many businesses in dire need of seasonal help.
