Posted: Updated:
EASTON, Md.- Easton Police say they were called to the Tidewater Inn on Sunday in reference to a report of someone smoking marijuana in a room.

Upon arrival, police say they met with staff members who said several people had reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana outside of an upper floor room. Authorities say the staff addressed the situation and was yelled at by the occupant.

Police say that occupant was later identified as 24-year-old, Michael Harpster, of Forest Hill.

Authorities say Harpster yelled at staff and police and continued to flush a toilet.

Officers say they had to force the door open to confront Harpster. They say he jumped up onto a bed and hid behind some sleeping juveniles.

Police say Harpster was yelling and was uncooperative and combative. He was then removed from the hotel.

He was then charged with Obstructing/Hindering, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct, according to police. Harpster was then placed in the Detention Center by the Commissioner on $5,000.00 bond.
