DOVER, Del.- Dover police say a man already wanted on rape charges is also wanted for his alleged involvement in a carjacking that happened early Monday morning.

Police said the carjacking occurred on South Little Creed Road at the Tudor Industrial Park around 4 a.m. Monday. Investigators said a 22-year-old man was supposed to meet a female friend in the Manchester Square Development, located off of White Oak Road. Police said that while the man was waiting, another man, later identified as Robert Sanders, approached the victim and the two agreed on giving Sanders a ride to the Tudor Industrial Park. Investigators said that is when Sanders displayed a black handgun and ordered the victim to leave his vehicle. Police said the victim left his vehicle with Sanders, ran away and called the police department a short time later.

Police say Sanders was last seen driving the stolen vehicle, a gold 2007 Mercury Milan, westbound on South Little Creek Road toward Route 113. Authorities said the vehicle has a New Jersey registration, but the license plate number is unknown.

Police say warrants have been obtained for Sanders for first-degree carjacking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Authorities say Sanders is also wanted on four counts of fourth-degree rape by the Dover Police Department on an unrelated incident that involved a 15-year-old victim.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7111 or  call the Delaware Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via www.tipsubmit.com.
