DOVER, Del.- Dover police say an anonymous tip led to Tuesday morning's arrest of a man wanted on rape and carjacking charges.

Police said Robert Sanders was arrested just before 9 a.m. after a person who learned about the case from the Dover Police Department's Facebook page saw the suspected vehicle turning onto Walker Road and into the Heritage at Dover nursing home. Investigators said a witness saw Sanders park the stolen Mercury Milan behind the nursing home and exit the vehicle, at which time the witness called the Dover Police Department.

Police said that within one minute, officers were on the scene and took Sanders into custody.

Police said the carjacking occurred on South Little Creed Road at the Tudor Industrial Park around 4 a.m. Monday. Investigators said a 22-year-old man was supposed to meet a female friend in the Manchester Square Development, located off of White Oak Road. Police said that while the man was waiting, another man, later identified as Robert Sanders, approached the victim and the two agreed on giving Sanders a ride to the Tudor Industrial Park.

Investigators said that is when Sanders displayed a black handgun and ordered the victim to leave his vehicle. Police said the victim left his vehicle with Sanders, ran away and called the police department a short time later.

Police said said Sanders now faces charges of first-degree carjacking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was also also wanted on four counts of fourth-degree rape by the Dover Police Department on an unrelated incident that involved a 15-year-old victim, investigators said.

Bond information was not immediately available.

Police said they are thankful to everyone who shared their post about the search for Sanders on their Facebook page. They said the post was viewed by over 50,000 people in just 24 hours.
