Seaford Man Arrested for Soliciting Child Sex

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Police have arrested a Seaford, Del. man accused of traveling to Worcester County in an attempt to have sex with a 12-year-old child.

Detectives with the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation said that they, along with members of the Worcester County Sheriff's Office's Criminal Enforcement Team, Maryland State Police and Homeland Security Investigations, teamed up to arrest 34-year-old Carlos O. Mejia on Tuesday morning.

Investigators said Mejia traveled from Seaford to a location in northern Worcester County to engage in sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old. He is charged with solicitation for prostitution and sexual solicitation of a minor.

Authorities said that on Tuesday evening Delaware State Police assisted the WCBI with executing a search and seizure warrant on Mejia's home in Seaford and seized several items to assist with the investigation.

Following his arrest on the aforementioned charges, Mejia was ordered held at the Worcester County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
