Three Injured in Md. Car Accident

DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md. - Maryland State Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that happened early Sunday morning and believe alcohol played a role.

Preliminary investigation showed driver 18-year-old Leah Marie Miles was speeding around a curve and then lost control of her vehicle. Police said the 2009 Pontiac left the roadway and struck an electrical pole. Miles was ejected from the vehicle. She was then flown to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury with life-threatening injuries.

Two passengers, Brandi Sue Collins and Koby Aivaras Pollard, were also injured. They were brought to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and PRMC respectively with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have yet to file any charges.
