Cambridge High Street Owners Ask Commercial Trucks To Find New Route

Posted:
CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Some people on the popular High Street in Cambridge say heavy commercial traffic causes vibrations so strong that it actually shakes homes on the street.

Some of those homes are more than 100 years old. Neighbors tell WBOC they want something done to divert traffic around their historic brick road.

"In the case of this crack," Cambridge House Bed and Breakfast owner Marianne Benson showed WBOC, "it's been going on for quite some time but it has finally reached the point where the crack has caused a large piece of plaster to fall out.  So the situation really needs to be addressed and the traffic diverted elsewhere."

During special events, traffic is routed through the county office building parking lot. Some say they would like that to become the permanent solution.
