Salisbury University Police Guide New Students

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University Police have issued a traffic advisory on Camden Avenue between College Avenue and Pine Bluff Road from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, August 21, as approximately 1,200 new students and their parents come to campus for Move-In Day.

The Salisbury University Police Department is committed to protecting the safety and security of the entire campus community. As a reminder there are several security services that are offered.

There is a campus security escort service, utilizing a combination of police officers, security guards, student patrol, and student volunteers. The service is available to all students, faculty, and staff members who feel uncomfortable walking during the hours of darkness.

Saferide is a student-run transportation service at Salisbury University, primarily operating on weekend nights.

Saferide works to promote safe travel for SU students and to eliminate tragedy that can often be associated with seeking unsafe means of getting home.

Police state the first wave of emergency alert system notification includes: a siren alert for outdoor communication across campus, voice and text messaging, e-mail and a campus cable TV Emergency Alert System.
