DOVER, Del. - A traffic stop turned into a drug bust just north of Reed Street, according to Dover Police.

It happened Tuesday at 3:20 p.m. on S. Bradford Street.

Police said members of their safe streets unit pulled Deon Maestre, 28, over for a traffic violation. When officers contacted Maestre they said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.

According to police, the officers searched the vehicle and found a black backpack containing 18 separate clear plastic sandwich bags containing marijuana, in total weighing 357.6 grams.

Police said the marijuana and Maestre's 2006 Chevrolet Impala were seized.
