2nd Annual Ocean Pines Car Show Takes Place Saturday

Posted:

OCEAN PINES, Md. – Time to rev up the engines, the 2nd annual Ocean Pines Car Show is happening on Saturday.

For all car enthusiasts, there is one place to be tomorrow.

“We line the cars up at White Horse Park for the parade to Veterans Memorial Park” Amber Fraser, the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce Membership Coordinator, said.

The meeting place, White Horse Park, is located at 239 Ocean Parkway in Ocean Pines. According to Fraser, the parade starts at 10:00 a.m., but the actual event kicks off at 11:00 a.m., when all the cars arrive at Veteran's Memorial Park, which sits on the corner of Rt. 589 and Cathell Rd.

This year's event is a little different than last year.

“We added the children's bicycle parade this year,” Fraser said. “ We wanted to make the event more family and community oriented.”

Fraser said children are welcome to decorate bikes, wear costumes, and participate in the bike parade around the South Gate Pond.

Last year Fraser said the event brought in a crowd of 200 people and 67 cars. This year, based on pre-registration, the Chamber of Commerce is expecting a bigger turnout.

As for judging the cars in the event, “We have a few big names,” Fraser said, including Maryland Senator Jim Mathias. There are five different categories, winners can expect a trophy.

Pre-registration for the event costs $12, day of sign-ups will be charged $15. The day will last from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
