Ironclub Maryland Continues Raising Money for Upcoming Triathlon

Posted:

VIENNA, Md.- Dozens gathered at Layton's Chance Winery on Friday night to kick off one of the inaugural events for Ironclub Maryland.

The group is raising money to offset the $100,000 dollar licensing fee, and have already raised $70,000 from various donors and organizations.

Friday's event included wine pourings by local celebrities, including WBOC's own Tyler Butler as well as a sampling of cheeses.  Tickets were $40 and each celebrity had an additional bucket to collect donations.  Additional prizes were raffled from each celebrity as well.

With 30 days until the race, this morning the group was looking for $30,000 dollars more in donations, but with the help of all who attended, that number is now closer to $25,000 dollars.  The club will also be hosting a golf tournament and several other events over the next few weeks leading up to the race.   A link to Ironclub Maryland can be found here.
