QUEEN ANNE, Md.- An early morning head-on collision leaves nine people injured, including five kids in Talbot County.

Maryland State Police said the accident happened around 5:45 this morning at Route 404 at Church Lane in Queen Anne.

Troopers said 57-year-old Patrick Williams of Seaford, Del. was traveling east on Route 404 as 76-year-old Paul Watkins of Preston was traveling westbound. Police said Watkins was trying to pass a tractor trailer, in front of him, when he drove into oncoming traffic striking Williams.

Five kids, including a three-year-old and seven-year-old were in the car with Williams. Patricia Ann,53, of Seaford was also a passenger. Williams and all of his passengers were transported to the hospital. Ann and a 13-year-old were flown to the hospital.

Watkins was transporting 34-year-old Rasheed Robinson of Greensboro, Md. Police said both of them had to be flown to a hospital.

No word on the current state of their conditions.

Charges are pending in this accident.

Route 404 was shut down for one hour as first responders from Talbot, Queen Anne and Caroline Counties provided assistance at the scene.
