One Injured in Fruitland Motorcycle Crash

FRUITLAND, Md.- Fruitland police are investigating an accident that left one person in critical condition.

Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries involving a car and a motorcycle shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of East Cedar Lane and Saint Luke's Road in Fruitland.

The motorcycle operator was found to be trapped under the car, according to police. Officers, EMS and witnesses were able to elevate the vehicle off of the motorcycle operator and began CPR.

The motorcycle operator was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and stabilized for transport to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, and is currently in critical condition. Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the reconstruction portion of the investigation. Any other witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Fruitland Police Department at (410) 548-2803.

Police said that neither drugs nor alcohol are known to be a factor at this point in the investigation. However, investigators said charges are pending.
