HARRINGTON, Del.- A Smyrna man was charged with his third DUI offense after police in Harrington pulled him over for a traffic violation early Tuesday morning.

Officers from the Harrington Police Department stopped Jamel R. Henry, 34, around 2:10 a.m. on Delaware Avenue. Police said that at that point they observed Henry holding a knife and smelled the odor of alcohol coming from his vehicle. Officers said they also found alleged drug paraphernalia inside the car.

Police administered standard field tests to Henry and took him into custody without incident. A computer check revealed he had a suspended driver's license and two previous DUI convictions in 2004 and 2014, according to police.

Officers charged Henry with third offense DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended or revoked license and failure to signal when turning. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $3,201 secured bond.
