Teen Arrested for Smyrna Burglary

 SMYRNA, Del.– Smyrna police have arrested a teenager accused of burglarizing a home on the 300 block of Paul Drive.

The 14-year-old was arrested Wednesday for second-degree burglary, theft under $1,500 and criminal mischief after an interview with police. 

According to police, the suspect took an Xbox and PlayStation video game systems belonging to the residents. Officers recovered several fingerprints from the crime scene.

A concerned citizen contacted investigators with information on a possible juvenile suspect, officials said.  The fingerprints from the crime scene were compared to those of the juvenile in question by the State Bureau of Identification and were a partial match.

The suspect was contacted and interviewed about the crime, which led to the arrest. The juvenile was arraigned in the Kent County Family Court and sent to a non-secure juvenile detention facility according to officials.
