NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The Transportation Security Administration has appointed a new federal security director for airports in New Jersey and Delaware.

Thomas Carter will have oversight of security at Newark Liberty, Atlantic City International, Trenton-Mercer and Wilmington-Philadelphia Regional airports.

The 40-year-old succeeds Donald Drummer, who was promoted to deputy assistant administrator for the TSA's Security Capabilities Office in Washington.

Carter worked for the Federal Aviation Administration before joining the TSA after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

He'll start his new job in October.
