Wheatley Wins Democratic Primary

GEORGETOWN, Del. - After sitting down and interviewing Rob Arlett, the Republican candidate for District Five of Sussex County Council on Tuesday, WBOC sat down with his competitor on Wednesday.

Democrat Bob Wheatley is currently the chairman for the County Planning and Zoning Commission, and has held county office for two decades.

“I do have 20 years of county-level experience under my belt,” he said. “I know the players. I know the system. I know how to deal with county issues and where to get answers.”

Wheatley beat out fellow Democrat Brad Connor, who is the current Mayor Dagsboro in the primary.

“It means a great deal,” he said of the victory. “It's a real vote of confidence front he primary voters in the 5th district. We were very happy and gratified for the victory.”

Wheatley said that he hopes voters look at the candidate and not the party in the upcoming election.

“This is not Washington D.C.,” he said. “And it's not Dover. It's Sussex County. And what it's all about is getting good people in office who will do what is right for Sussex County."
