Gov.-elect Larry Hogan has named his health secretary, along with several other cabinet positions.
Hogan announced Tuesday that Van Mitchell will be the secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Mitchell has been a lobbyist for Manis Canning and Associates. He served as principal deputy secretary of the state health department during former Gov. Robert Ehrlich's administration. Mitchell also was a member of the House of Delegates from 1995 to 2004.
Hogan, a Republican, also named Charlie Evans to head the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Ben Grumbles, a former assistant administrator for water at the U.S. Environmental Protection agency, will be secretary of the Department of the Environment.
Joe Bartenfelder, a former member of the House of Delegates, will be Maryland's agriculture secretary.
