Baltimore Officer Sued After Video Shows Punching

BALTIMORE (AP)- Baltimore police say they've opened an internal investigation after surveillance video showed an officer repeatedly punching a man as another officer holds his right arm.

The man, 32-year-old Kollin Truss of Baltimore, filed a $5 million lawsuit against Officer Vincent Cosom on Monday.

A message left at a number listed for Cosom wasn't immediately returned Tuesday.

Cosom wrote in a police report that Truss was in a fighting stance and he feared for his safety.

Video of Truss' arrest on June 15 was captured by city surveillance cameras and provided to reporters by Truss' attorneys on Monday.

It shows an officer the attorneys say is Cosom repeatedly punching Truss as another officer holds Truss's right arm.

Cosom has been with the department for six years and is in neighborhood patrol.
