CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Virginia State Police say a 27-year-old man has died after a paragliding accident south of Chesapeake.

Police said Jeff Toll of Virginia Beach was operating a paraglider when it hit a power line on Sept. 16.

Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call just before 6 p.m. for the incident on Beaver Dam Road, according to Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department.

“He was just laying there still in his harness,” said Stephen Jennings, who owns the farm where the crash occurred. “We had to cut him out. The other man was doing CPR while I was calling 911.”

Toll was taken to Norfolk Sentera Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Toll was an experienced pilot that had flown for years. He was part owner of “Team Fly Halo” which is paragliding training company.

The Federal Aviation Administration will also investigate the accident.
