Police Charge DuPont Manager in Fatal Hit and Run

HOCKESSIN, Del. (AP) - A Delaware man charged in a hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist has posted bond and been released from custody.

Gabriel Pardo of Hockessin surrendered to police Tuesday and had his first court hearing. He's charged with criminally negligent homicide and leaving an accident scene.

The 44-year-old DuPont Co. manager was released after posting $50,000 bond. He declined to comment.

A DuPont spokesman also declined to comment.

Police say that just before 9 p.m. Friday, 27-year-old Phillip Bishop of Hockessin was riding south on a local road when a northbound car hit him and fled. Bishop had a helmet with a head lamp, a flashlight and a rear flashing light on his bicycle.

Bishop's mother says his entire family is heartbroken.
