Delaware Farm Vehicles Need New Plates

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del.- Tuesday, Oct. 7 marks the last valid day for plastic farm vehicle tags, according to the Delaware Department of Motor Vehicles.

New FV plates will be issued to any vehicles meeting the requirements given by the state.

An application for the plates is listed on the DMV's website. The introduction states Title 21 Section 2113 of state law.

Vehicles can obtain a new FV plate if used by farmers who have received at least $1,000 of annual income from a farm. Additionally, the farmer must either own or rent at least ten acres of land to make the given income requirement.

The Delaware Farm Bureau said that inspection is not required to gain new tags, simply turning in proof by the title of the vehicle or bill of sale will suffice.

There is a one-time fee of $10 for the plate that allows farm vehicles to travel within a 20-mile radius of the farm.

The new tags must be renewed every three years according to state laws either online or at the nearest DMV location.

For more information about the new FV plates visit the Farm Bureau's website www.defb.org or call your nearest DMV location.
