Changes In Charges In SPD Excessive Force Case

Posted:
SALISBURY, MD. -  There is now a change in charges on Thursday for three young men in Wicomico County after they had requested a jury trial. Curtis Adams, Travis Guthrie, and Abdi Gelata were charged in an incident back in early May. They have since filed a lawsuit accusing Salisbury Police Officer Justin Aita of using excessive force that night.

Wicomico State's Attorney Matt Maciarello says changes were made to the charges they face to negate the need for a jury trial. Adams now faces two counts of failure to obey a lawful order, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.

Guthrie and geleta are charged with failure to obey a lawful order in Wicomico County.
